The coming Friday will see the release of the Shoojit Sarkar directed John Abraham starrer `Madras Cafe`. The film is expected to open to good reviews but commercial prospects are not on the same level.

The new release of the week, Milan Luthria’s, `Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara`, opened to an impressive response (85-100 percent) on Independence day. Despite a limited release, the opening day saw the film netting in excess of 10 crore from India.

The Akshay, Imran and Sonakshi starrer, `OUATIMD`, which expanded to 2500 screens on the second day (Friday), maintained the tempo (but with lower occupancies), despite a working day and is expected to mop up anything from 12-13 crore (as per early estimates). The film is expected to end the first weekend (extended) with an impressive haul. Not only that, reports filtering in from the overseas are also quite encouraging.

The Rohit Shetty directed Shah Rukh Khan directed `Chennai Express` is on a record breaking run. To sum up, paid previews, the best single day (debatable), the three day weekend, fastest hundred and now the first week records have all been broken and by huge margins. Most of the records broken are of the `Eid` 2012 release, the Salman-Katrina starrer, ` Ek Tha Tiger`. In the Overseas the phenomenon is similar and each and every circuit has seen records falling like nine pins. Let’s just take one example, `Chennai Express` is the first film to break the $2m mark from the US during the first weekend.

Meanwhile Tips Films` Tips Girish Kumar-Shruti Hassan starrer, `Ramaiya Vastavaiya`, has inched its way to success.

Concluding with Rakeysh Mehra’s Farhan Akhtar starrer, `Bhaag Milkha Bhaag`, the film continues to bring in the money (despite the `Chennai Express` tsunami). The film has also impressed in the Overseas, especially in the US.
