The main story being that Rahul is mistaken for a serial killer and Karan is in love with a girl named Kiran, who is really a dude. Yup, lots of mistaken identities. Isha Koppikar plays a surly cop named, (get this) Urmila Matondkar sent by criminal psychologist, Dr. Screwala (Anupam Kher) to catch Rahul in his killing act. Only problem is, she falls in love with him. On the other hand, Kiran’s sister Rekha (Neha Dhupia) is sent by her parents to stop Karan from being gay. Rekha also falls in love. Confusion, confusion. Finally, there is Mrs. Screwala (Shoma Anand) who believes her husband is cheating on her with both Urmila and Rekha.
Out of all the performances, Ritesh Deshmukh is the one who steals the show with his antics, especially when he gets beat up, but pretends he had a wild night with a girl. Also, his scenes about not knowing that Kiran is a boy are hilarious. On the music front, “Dil Mera” is the best song of the film. Technically, the film is average in direction, editing seemed a bit sloppy. Despite the fact that the movie’s premise is silly, it still managed to be a hit in India so far. Sure, if you are really bored, check it out for a good laugh, but it certainly is not a comedy I would recommend for children. This is like the Hollywood flick American Pie, more suited for teens and young adults, who might relate to the nonsense mentioned in the film. Overall, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum is only worthwhile if you’ve seen everything else interesting this year. |
