Tere Naam is a solo Salman Khan release after his recent controversies, and once you see the caption "Unfortunately A True Love Story" you get the feeling that the makers are trying to cash in on those exact controversies.

Himesh Reshammiya, in my opinion is a combination of Anu Malik and Nadeem Shravan. This time around he has adopted a different approach, a somewhat somber album keeping in mind the mood of the movie and except for 1/3rd of the songs the usual Reshammiya touch is missing.

There are  twelve songs in all and the album opens with the title song ´Tere Naam´ a duet by Udit & Alka. The lyrics by Sameer are meaningful and it can be termed as a decent title track. The same track is once again rendered by Alka as a solo number and it also has a third sad version by Udit. The duet turns out to be the best of the three versions.

With Himesh around can the Chunri/Oodhni song be far behind? This time it is ´Oodhni´, but the usual lyricist Sudhakar Sharma has been replaced by Sameer. This number has the potential to move up the charts, once the TV promos start (in a day or so). The song however has shades of  ´Ghungroo Toot Gaye´ in the antras. The vocals of Udit and Alka are good,  but Kumar Sanu is missed here. The song has been picturised in Manali.

The techno beat number ´O Jaana´ by Udit, Kamaal Khan, K.K., Shaan and Alka is aimed at the generation X.

The qawaali number ´Tune Saath Jo Mera Choda´ written by Jalees Sherwani and composed by Sajid Wajid is a decent number, inspired by the classic ´Dono Ne Kiya Tha Pyaar Magar´ from the movie ´Mahua´. The song sung by Udit and Raghav also has a sad version in the voice of Udit.

´Man Basia´ is a good devotional song rendered by Alka with feelings. A different sort of a number that can not be classified as a bhajan and forces you to take notice of it.

´Kyon Kisi Se´ in the voice of Udit has better lyrics than the song itself. Sameer is in his elements in this situational song.

´Chand´ is the best song of the album and though ´Oodhni´ may end up higher on popularity charts, this is the ´Himesh Reshammiya´ we know from ´Humraaz´. Udit´s vocal chords do full justice to the number.

´Tumse Milna´ by Alka and Udit is ordinary and may not be in the movie. Just one of those filler songs that T-Series specialize in.

A whole album with no Punjabi Pop? No way. ´Lagan Lagi´ has been sung with a lot of energy by Sukhwinder but it is time he came out of his ´Mirchi´ hangover of ´Biwi No1´.

If you are looking for another ´Andaaz´ ,´Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon´ or ´Chalte Chalte´ than the album pales in comparison. Its an album that has some good tracks but unlike the above mentioned albums the consistency is not there. The music may become popular once the ´Oodhni´ and ´Chand´ promos start and may pick up if the the movie succeeds at the box office.
