Bollywood is dosed with the ever so popular K titled films. For some it is a superstition to have a film titled with that letter (Rakesh Roshan, Karan Johar) and for others there is no reason. One thinks no reason may fit the bill as the number of titles with K are in abundance, and already awaiting the release are two other "K"s in the form of Khushi and Khullam Khulla Pyar Karen. In any case, director Harry Baweja does not have such superstitions, which is surprising since his previous hits Dilwale and Diljale all shared a similar letter in the title.

A regular masaladar director, Baweja has stuck with romance and action- typical phillumized content- with the mandatory love triangle. Rather than utilizing his favorite Ajay Devgan he has brought together the ever so popular Sunil Shetty and Shilpa Shetty duo and Sunny Deol. If youve guessed love triangle your probably right but Karz- The Burden of Truth also has the formulaic action scenes and family drama that constitutes the complete Bollywood cinematic piece.

A young boy Sooraj (Sunny Deol) was abandoned by his mother at a young age. To cope with the loss and life he has turned to the negativities in life, alcohol, drugs and violence. With no supervision or caretaker his life knows no happiness. Not until he is taken in, thus after facing an up rise of positive occurrences, including meeting the beauty Sapna (Shilpa Shetty).

Sapna has now changed a distraught Soorajs life and Sooraj is immediately smitten by her beauty and in love, but he can not tell her his feelings. While Sooraj insists on finding his mother and learning why he was abandoned he has quitted the bad things in his life. Sooraj then meets Raja (Sunil Shetty) who becomes a great friend. Whereas Sooraj was deprived of his home, Raja has left his home to find the woman he loves, coincidentally Sapna

Not only has Raja become the thorn in the only good bed that Sooraj has laid on, Sooraj realizes that Raj is not the right man for Sapna. Aside from the fact that he is in love with her, Sooraj has developed the image of Raj akin to that of a lover boy who cant remain with one woman. Sooraj refuses to let Raj continue with Sapna, until Raj reveals the truth about Soorajs past.

Soorajs life has now turned upside down. From his original childhood dilemma, to loosing the one good thing in his life, to learning that those who have hurt him are still alive, including his lost mother, Sooraj must make a decision. Torn, he decides that he will not approach any of those that have hurt him but stay quiet. That is, until he cant anymore. Fate brings Sooraj and his mother Sumitra (Kiran Kher) together at a function. Here he hears the lullaby his mother once sung to him "Zo Gaye Hain Zameen" and realizes that the person whom he has been so upset at is so close.

Can Sooraj face his mother and can he embrace the truth as to why he had been deserted so long ago? Can he and his mother face "Karz" - The Burden of Truth?
