Koena Mitra makes her debut in a folk dance appearance in "Khullam Khullam Pyar Karen". Varma is not hesitant to say that her dance number is nothing like "Khallas" or "Kambakth Ishq". Not is the song and not is the video! Sandesh Shandilya´s tunes are strictly for Road and nothing else. Nitin Raikwar´s guest composition the "pop" styled "Toofan Se" is reportedly shot by Mr. Varma himself. All of the camera work etc., are said to be done by him.
The story brings back Manoj Bajpai to the limelight as a long and gone crazed maniac. He was last seen in cahoots in AKS. Ram Gopal Varma also says that after an unconventional debut in Company, Vivek Oberoi will finally be seen as a regular hero. From his character sketching there is no doubt. This will be Antra Mali’s first chance as the sole heroine in the film.
Arvind (Vivek Oberoi) and Laxmi (Antara Mali) are youngsters in love. However, like all aspiring couples in Bollywood these days, their families refuse to accept their relationship. After careful consideration the duo set off on a long road trip to get married, far away from their family.
They are currently travelling the dry, dark and deserted roads in Rajasthan when they meet Babu (Manoj Bajpai). Babu is a hitchhiker in need of a ride. The couple decides it will do them no harm. After a mile or so Arvind and Laxmi realize that picking up Babu may not have been the best of moves after all. It turns out that Babu is a psycho and he intends to show this couple dying to get married what he is capable of. Arvind and Laxmi are then terrorized. Can they make it out alive? One can´t deny the fact that Ram Gopal Varma is the perfect name for such a hatke film, whether it be producer or director. Rajat Mukherjee already showed us last year he could handle a thriller with the right tools. With the hype on Road being inescapable from the news everyday, Road should undoubtedly not disappoint. |
