Rajkummar Rao wins 'Entertainer of the Year' award at Outlook Social Media Awards 2018

Rajkummar Rao, who is on an award-winning spree, has now added another prestigious trophy to his shelf by bagging 'Entertainer of the Year' award at the Outlook Social Media Awards 2018 ceremony held in Delhi recently.

The powerhouse performer bagged the honour for his stupendous performance in the critically-acclaimed movie, Newton selected as India's official entry to the Oscars 2018.

The coming-of-age satire had impressed several critics and B-town influencers who raved about the poignant film, brilliant subject and superlative performances by the cast including Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra and Anjali Patil.

Outlook as a magazine has always documented diverse views and opinions through its weekly coverage of important events. The social media is a similar platform for recognizing and sharing views and opinions. And so, they decided to launch the Outlook Social Media Awards to recognize and felicitate extraordinary people from all walks of life.

Through a vigorous process of research, voting and jury, the Outlook team has chosen Rajkummar for the prestigious and much deserving honour, as he has proved his mettle as an actor and an inspiration for the aspiring young actors.

Rajkummar says, "Newton will always be a special film. The movie not just won several awards, including a National award recently, but it was also a great experience working with everyone associated with it. The content-driven movie has set a benchmark for several filmmakers to create many more Newtons."

Among the prestigious awards that Rajkummar had won last year includes two Filmfare awards - Critic Award for Best Actor (Trapped) and Best Supporting Actor for Bareilly Ki Barfi, followed by two major awards - Best Actor (for Trapped) & Best Supporting Actor (for Bareilly Ki Barfi) at the 'Power Brands Bollywood Film Journalists Awards' (PB-BFJA), Critics Choice for Best Actor for Newton at Hello!, Hall of Fame 2018 Awards, Best Actor award for Bose at Indian Wikimedia Digital Awards, Best Actor at Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia where more than 70 countries were competing against each other & Variety Asia's Rising Star award at IFFA Macao.
