Music duo of Sajid-Wajid had a very quiet 2013 with about five average soundtracks which failed to make any impact, their last recognized venture was in 2012 with 'Teri Meri Kahaani' and the superhot hit 'Mashallah' in 'Ek Tha Tiger', considering all the facts "Main Tera Hero" comes along with very limited expectations, moreover when the last combination of David Dhawan (Director) and Sajid-Wajid 'Chasme Baddoor' offered nothing on the musical front. On the flip side though, the star cast of Varun Dhawan, Ileana D'Cruz and Nargis Fakhri adds a certain glam quotient which may work in favour for the songs, with four originals and two remix, let's discover what this 'Hero' has in store for us!

"Besharmi Ki Height" lands in the 'Safe Zone' with all those catchy techno arrangements and Kumaar's nonsensical lyrics. Benny Dayal is at his usual best with such genre of songs, Shalmali Kholgade continues to impress and her transformation from the days of 'Pareshan'-Ishaqzaade to 'Balam Pichkari'-YJHD to such fast paced numbers is appreciable. The composition is eye catchy with some good choreography and the sizzling pair of Ileana and Varun Dhawan. It makes a good start for the soundtrack and will be liked by the masses (Urban). DJ Notorious (aptly named for such song) adds some excessive extended techno beats (misses by an inch in becoming a version 2 of 'Subha Hone Na De'-Desi Boyz with those same arrangements) and the result is "Besharmi Ki Height Remix" where everything else remains the same as in original..One wonders if at all a remix required for a club number like this! The remix culture in Bollywood soundtracks popularised with Himesh Reshammiya when he started providing remix of each song in the soundtrack few years back, as of now, the listeners seeks variety, probably a reprise with a change of singers or lyrics will be more acknowledged than the filler remix!

Remember Pancham Da's 'Jahan Teri Nazar Hai, Meri Jaan Mujhe Khabar Hai'..the same rhythm is re-lived in "Palat-Tera Hero Idhar Hai" where Arijit Singh brings on the required notorious charm with his renditions. The orchestra here is really impressive with lots of instruments being used, especially the Guitar and Saxophone for the slow parts throughout and also the Violin notes, Kausar Munir and Danish Sabri writes some fabulous flirtatious lyrics (both the paragraphs). It's an instant HIT material and certainly the best composition of this soundtrack.

Things become Govinda'ish and David Dhawan makes his presence felt with "Shanivaar Raati" (lyrics by Kumaar) where even a voice like Arijit Singh can't save this outdated number from sinking, what with Wajid trying to do a Honey Singh in the first interlude with some Rap portions. The arrangements are sadly Western with a mix of Punjabi that doesn't works, Shalmali Kholgade does well for her portions and at places the song reminds of 'Dilliwaali Girlfriend' from YJHD. One can imagine Govinda and Raveena Tandon dancing on this one, neverthless it has been composed for a comic situation and may look better on screen, Avoid! Further, with overdose of techno arrangements "Shanivaar Raati Remix By DJ Chetas" makes one press 'SKIP' immediately!

The soundtrack takes a downward momentum with "Galat Baat Hai" where the harmonium at the very onset straightaway takes the listeners to 'Second Hand Jawaani' -Agent Vinod and the whole composition seems to be highly inspired by this Pritam number and we always blame Pritam for plagiarism! Anyways, Javed Ali sounds very much like Sonu Nigam and Neeti Mohan is delicious as usual, Kausar Munir and Danish Sabri writes some cheeky lyrics but the composition never really connects and is only to be heard alongside the video with two hot sizzling actress, would be interesting to see how it's being picturised.

Overall, "Main Tera Hero" works in parts where Sajid-Wajid failed to repeat their partnership with David Dhawan (‘Partner’-2007). 'Besharmi Ki Height' and 'Palat' will be popular where rest two are strictly for the movie and would not even be remembered after the movie ends it tenures at the box office.
