GOVINDA and DAVID DHAWAN are back together once again in JEETENDRA´s KYON KE... MAIN JHUTH NAHIN BOLTA. After the hit JODI NO. 1 earlier this year, the Jodi No. 1 tries their luck with a LIAR-LIAR remake with the music by ANAND RAAJ ANAND being the standard, zesty DHAWAN-CHICHI fare. The soundtrack opens with EK LADKI CHAHIYE. Sung by the hit duo of SONU NIGAM and JASPINDER NARULA, it is a peppy opening number for the soundtrack. Sonu is in full form once again for a Govinda starrer and it is good to hear Jaspinder after somewhat of a gap. One can´t imagine anyone but GOVINDA for this number to be picturized on. Next we have UDD GAYI RE NEEND with SONU NIGAM and ANURADHA SRIRAM (the reason behind Jaspinder´s absense of late). The obligatory PUNJABI number of the soundtrack carries a nice tempo and flows great with the opening number. Anuradha shows why she´s getting more offers than Jaspinder while Sonu is his usual good self. UDIT NARAYAN and ALKA YAGNIK follow in PAA LIYA HAIN PYAR TERA. A zesty love song with nice rhyming lyrics like "sona" and "hona." Udit and Alka are a welcome change to the first few singers on the album and perform adequately. The title track follows next, OOPS, I mean what the title track would have been had producer EKTA KAPOOR (JEETENDRA´s daughter) kept the original title of the film, SAJAN RE JHUTH MAT BOLO. Since this is BOLLYWOOD and superstition is what reigns, the title has been changed to suit EKTA´s needs. Anyhow, the number has SADHNA SARGAM, POORNIMA, and UDIT NARAYAN trying to pull off a spoof of TUM TO DHOKEBAAZ HO from the 1996 DD-ChiChi caper SAAJAN CHALE SASURAL. For some reason the same feel isn´t here, let´s hope the picturization can make up for the lack of appeal in the music composition which comes out as barely an above-average number. ABHIJEET appears next with KAUN KEHTA HAI. Perhaps the only number on the soundtrack where the forward or skip button on your player might be used. A typical ChiChi number where our HERO NO. 1 discusses the effects of lying in society. Abhijeet does a commendable effort but is given an assembly-line number, not showcasing his full talent. Our AANDE KA FUNDA singer and lyricist PRATIK JOSEPH returns for the final track EK LADKI DEEWANI SI. While a change from Aande ka funda, Joseph handles the song well but how many DIRECTORS besides DHAWAN will actually use him in their films remains to be seen. Musically KYON KE...MAIN JHUTH NAHIN BOLTA is your typcial DAVID DHAWAN-GOVINDA soundtrack. While there are no MUGHLE-E-AZAM-like numbers in here, it is a great time-pass soundtrack with 2 or 3 likeable numbers, more than one can ask for in this day and age of "junkfood" songs. As for the film, it is a REMAKE of JIM CAREY´S superhit comedy caper LIAR LIAR where a lawyer´s son wishes for his father to tell the truth for a period of time. This time we have GOVINDA playing the lawyer opposite MISS UNIVERSE SUSHMITA SEN but with the backdrop of the UNDERWORLD and an opposing lawyer RAMBHA who has her eyes set on ChiChi. Considering DHAWAN has used my suggestion for the subject of the film I hope it does well. Believe me, KYON KE MAIN JHUTH NAHIN BOLTA. |
