Govinda teams up once again with hit Dulhe Raja director Harmesh Malhotra. Although it is 3 years later and Anand-Milind are no longer in the running, the music of Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karen shows why.

The soundtrack opens with the original title track Tere Ishq Mein Pad Gaya (Govinda films seem to have a trend of never keeping their original titles but always having the song for the film still). Sonu Nigam and Jaspinder Narula croon to this peppy number which is average compared to other Chichi opening soundtrack numbers.

Next we have Ye Ladki Nahi Banaras Ka, the obligatory teaser number for a Govinda film has Sonu Nigam back again but with Bela Sulakhe. The track compares a girl to paan, enough said.

Udit Narayan teams up with Jaspinder Narula in Bagalwali Aankh Maare. Another teaser number with both singers lending able effort to another factory number by Anand-Milind.

The (new) title track follows with Jolly Mukherjee and Sunidhi Chauhan. Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karen is probably the only redeeming number on the whole soundtrack (probably why it´s repeated as a remix version). It is nice to hear Jolly´s unique voice after all the Sonu and Udit numbers in Govinda´s films. Both Jolly and Sunidhi do an above-average job making this the highlight of this Chichi-Anand-Milind factory product.

Maare Nazar Ke Katari with Sonu Nigam and Jaspinder Narula follows. It is another teaser number with our hero crooning to what has happened to him after seeing his heroine (and vice versa). A slow tempo makes the song fall in the skip category.

Sonu Nigam teams up with Alka Yagnik for the next track Bachalo Bachalo. The fast pace makes the number more bearable than the previous which isn´t saying much.

Sudesh Bhosle makes his voice felt in Chhalla Chhalla. Although suited for Amitabh Bachchan, it is interesting to hear Sudesh being used for ChiChi. He has sung for Govinda long before in his home production Do Ankhen Barah Haath, Challa Challa makes his previous number with ChiChi sound like a gem. Our hero describes how he will make the heroine his bride, and requesting a ring (challa).

Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karen´s music falls in the leagues of Joru Ka Ghulam, Kunwara, etc. Not a single number sticks in your head after you turn the player off. As the lyrics to most of the songs suggest, the songs are set for our brothers in U.P. and the hardworking paanwalas and rikshawallas, who made the music of Joru Ka Ghulam a rage amoung them. Govinda is falling into a predictable trap that MithunDa fell in to in the late 1980s. He decided to work with only his friends and people who would put up with his ways, forgetting about the A-grade setups. A Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karen looks the same to the audience as a Joru Ka Ghulam like Mithun´s Aakhri Ghulam would be the same as his Garibon Ka Daata in 1989. As for the film, Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karen is how a poor chap falls for a rich girl, who´s father doesn´t approve with an added backdrop of the underworld. Dulhe Raja you say, well don´t say I didn´t warn you. And if this wasn´t enough for ChiChi´s fans, we have Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare with the EXACT same team of Dulhe Raja (Harmesh Malhotra as producer-director, Anand-Milind´s music, Raveena Tandon, Kadar Khan, and Johnny Lever) coming out in December. Is there space in Ooty for apna ChiChi bhaiya? Let me find Mithunda´s number.
