Well, the tag team of Jatin-Lalit (get ready to rumble) has done it again…made a "hit, hit, superhit" album. They have formulated this album with all the necessary elements: a colorful movie title logo (just kidding…that credit goes to someone else)…ok, the elements: a top ten song (which makes people buy the album), good melodies, and an excellent choice of singers.

The album starts off with the song titled Tune Mujhe Pehchana Nahin, sung by Shaan. The song starts off with dialogue between Ajay and Kajol. This song is very Latinesque, which is good for me, I mean I don´t know about you all but now I sing/hum a Latin-like song and actually know the meaning of the words. The singing and guitar play is excellent. Shaan´s voice is very soft and smooth and the guitar play compliments it. The problem with this song is that it is so good that I keep hearing this song´s tune in my head as I am trying to listen to the other songs on the album. This song has the potential of being a Top 10 of Y2K. VERDICT: REWIND-Glad it´s on CD, otherwise the tape would have broken by now, after REWINDing it so many times.

The 2nd song is Yeh Vaada Hai by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. It again starts with Ajay/Kajol dialogue…who do they think they are Amitabh/Rekha. The song starts out slowly, but just as you are about to fall asleep, the pace picks up (awake), down (asleep), up (awake). It is a song that will take some time to get used too. The singing combo is appropriate and the instrumentation is clear and catchy. One problem: I am still hearing the tune of the 1st song. VERDICT: FAST FORWARD, then after 1-2 weeks, REWIND-Warning: Get the tape now, but later you will need the CD…Tape will break.

The 3rd song is Dil Dil by Amit Kumar. Is this Déjà vu, again the dialogue, and again I am hearing the 1st song´s tune in my head (well, that´s my problem). This is a very interesting song because Amit Kumar sounds more like Amit "Shaan/Lucky Ali" Kumar, rather than Amit "I want to sing just like Kishore" Kumar. It is a nice change for him, because it seems as if it is a previous untapped talent of his. This is another Latinesque song that I know the words to. Nice guitar work again. VERDICT: REWIND and get HEADPHONES-Will have to listen again and again carefully with headphones to believe that it is Amit Kumar.

The 4th song is Ek Sher Tha Ek Sherni by Shankar Mahadevan, Shweta, and Ishwari. Before Ajay, now Rishi thinks he is Amitabh. This a theme song based on the story. Shankar Mahadevan is a good choice for these types of songs: he sings with the appropriate pitch and within the melody of the excellent orchestration. Besides, maybe he can sing for Rishi, because he sounds like him. Ok, cancel that idea. VERDICT: Now the kids will be glad for the REWIND button.

The 5th song is Kahin Se Aai Rani-Kahin Se Aaja Raja by Amit Kumar, Kavita Krishnamurty, Shweta, Shraddha, and Ishwari. Oh yeah, dialogue again, then song. This song has a upbeat, catchy tune, yet the beginning and middle is a bit choppy. This song is much better without the beginning, but I guess Ajay wants us to know the whole story before we see the movie. By the way, I am still humming the 1st song. VERDICT: FAST FORWARD the first clip-find that spot on the CD and scratch it, so the CD player will automatically skip it or the CD player might make the beginning sound better rapped.

The 6th song is Yeh Vaada Hai (sad) by Alka Vagnik. This time Ajay/Kajol/Rishi have a verbal argument before the song. Just when you thought you knew enough, Ajay decides to give you more. The more dialogue he gives in the later songs, the more it is unnecessary. This is a slower version of the earlier song, with the same melody. It will probably be a better movie song, than CD song. VERDICT: FAST FORWARD until you see the movie, then decide on it.

The 7th song is Aaj Ka Kya Program Hai by Abhijeet, Kavita Krishnamurty, Sudesh Bhosle, Shankar Mahadevan, Ishwari, Shweta, Shraddha. Again, the dialogue, and this time Ajay thinks that he is the angry young man. This is a child theme song that has a lullaby-like tune to it. It is a well-orchestrated song, which the Jatin-Lalit tag team has mastered. 1st song is running through my head. VERDICT: Similar to 5th song-skip or rap it.

The 8th song is Raju Chacha by Shaan, Francis, Sheweta, Shraddha, Sneha, and Sehar. Another child theme song, with good singing, yet the tune sound remenecent of another Hindi songs. Of course, I can´t think of which ones, because the 1st song´s tune is buzzing though my head. It may take a new catchy Bappi Lahari song…ok, ok Ismail Darbar song to get the 1st song tune out of my head. VERDICT: Similar to the 6th song-watch then listen.

Overall, a excellent album that has a song for everyone. Yeh album koi FAREB nahi hain, is se MOHABBAT(EIN) ho jaaye, tho SUNNEWALE C.D. LE JAYENGE (DDLJ).
