Hrithik Roshan actually did turn down Rakeysh Mehra's 'Rang De Basanti' . He was the first choice and all possible pressure was brought upon him to persuade him to accept the film . Even Aamir Khan made a trip to Hrithik to get him to sign on . But Hrithik stuck to his guns, and refused .

No , he wasn't being offered Aamir's role ....it was the role of Karan (Anupam Kher's son in the film) , eventually played by Siddharth . Of course , Hrithik's firmness worked wonders for Siddharth , who got the rare opportunity to showcase his acting prowess in his very first Hindi film .

As they say , one man's excess caloried food keeps another one alive for months .. even a lifetime ! Siddharth may actually be thanking Hrithik !
