The two ends of the spectrum are Hritik Roshan’s Rs.30 crore deal with Adlabs with the entire amount paid in advance , and the poor workers-who are normally daily wagers-not being paid for months on the sets of Ram Gopal Varma Ke Sholay,a film produced by Adlabs . The star is lured with immediate payment while a worker, who probably survives on his daily wages , is made to wait for months.
The executive producer of the film issued the usual denials and he may manage to pull the wool over the eyes and cameras of some media persons but the film industry is not fooled. In case of 'RGV Ke Sholay' , Adlabs is involved and it certainly isn’t facing any financial crunch! Ramu maybe, but certainly not Adlabs. Of course , this will get sorted out fast enough as not many producers can afford to shoot with angry and frustrated workers on the sets . After the shoot has been disrupted in this manner , the chances are that the workers’ money will be paid(or might have been paid by now) , but why should something like this happen on the sets of an "A" class big-budget film? Maybe the senior actors who are demanding crores of rupees in renumeration can band together and incorporate a clause in their agreements that if ordinary workers are not paid their daily dues , they would not turn up for the shoot . That would surely work , but when has anybody in the film industry fought another’s battle? So,maybe "Lights Off" is the best policy for the workers on the set!
