Ramgopal Varma's recent films have given all those associated with them more reason to fret than felicitate . The maverick filmmaker seems to be suddenly getting it wrong again and again . The inevitable failure of his latest film , 'Nishabd' , could well be one more addition in the swelling list of his flops .

We all know that 'Nishabd' has been inspired by by the Hollywood film , 'American Beauty' . Rather than Indianising the bold story , Ramu has actually not even included elements from the original (which could have appealed to the Indian audience) .

For instance , the elderly hero in 'American Beauty' is shown to be passing through a midlife crisis and his affair with a girl , his daughters age could be construed to be a fallout of that crisis .

This point could have made a lot of sense to the Indian audience too , but Ramgopal Varma's hero in 'Nishabd' is shown to be a happily married man . And that is the question that has bothered the cinegoer's mind : why did the elderly man have an affair with the young girl ?

Maybe Ramu can answer that !
