Aamir Khan has won praise from NBA('Narmada Bachao Andolan') activists . They contrasted the silver screen hero's courage in standing his ground in the face of attacks from Guajarat with the "preserverance" of the UPA goevernment and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the face of Narendra Modi's threats . " It was left to Aamir to counter Modi , whose insecurities can be seen by one and all , " they said .

If some activists had initially expressed doubts about his credentials or credibility in supporting their cause , his steadfast stand won them over . The violent protests against him in Gujarat , pulling off , of his movies and virulent attacks only served to rally the activists behind him . People had it all wrong , as this was not the first time that Aamir had decided to taken up the Narmada issue .

Aamir Khan's cousin Mansur Khan , who had given a break to the actor in 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' , had proposed to Aamir years back about a movie along these lines . Arundhati was highly critical of Aamir initially , saying that he was the brand ambassador of a multinational , Coke , one of the biggest polluting multitinational , and so he had no right to speak on the matter . However , she retracted her critical statement about Aamir , once the star agreed to discuss the same with Coke .
