- Aakash Gandhi           Let us know what you think about this story

The grapevine is abuzz with reports that Punjabi pop singer, Daler Mehndi, has sued Yash Raj Films regarding a song track from the unreleased film ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.’ Apparently, Daler Mehndi is irked by the fact that his voice was replaced by Shankar Mahadevan in a track the two had recorded almost one year back.

Yash Raj defends by stating that Mehndi’s secretary was the one who requested that Mehndi’s vocals be removed, as certain terms and conditions were not working out between the two involved parties.

Mehndi’s lawyer, Mr. Naval Kishore Jha, states “Daler Mehndi’s voice was replaced in the yet to be released film Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. Shaad Ali, Yash Chopra, Gulzar and Shankar Mahadevan have removed his voice from the song. Therefore we have sent them legal notice. We have also claimed Rs 1 crore damage.”

Yet YRF remains adamant in their defense against Mehndi’s allegations of criminal breach of trust, stating that Mehndi had been aware of the replacement for the past 11 months.
