'Paheli' Captures Duvidha's Flavours , Says The Author
- Abid           Let us know what you think about this story

India's leading story writer and one of the most eminent writers in Rajasthan today , author Vijay Dan Detha , popularly known as 'Bijji' , is happy that his story , 'Duvidha' , has been recreated on celluloid not once but twice , by two renowed filmmakers - Mani Kaul in 1973 and now , Amol Palekar . Based on a story of 'Bijji' from his epic , 'Batan Ri Phulwari ' Palekar's 'Paheli' , starring Shah Rukh and Rani released last Friday .

Vijay Dan Detha , who watched the film at a special screening last week at Bombay , said 'Paheli' was a great film and Palekar had not diluted the flavour of his original story .

" Like Kaul's 'Duvidha' , 'Paheli' is an art film ," the author says . " People might think that star cast and big budget ( compared to Kaul's film) means a commercial venture but the film has no commercial angle at all . Amol asked me to expand the original story and add a little more about the characters and when I started doing that , the story turned into a short novel .Gulzars's lyrics and MM Kreem's music have been beautifully knitted with the story so much so that I found them blended into my story ," adds the 'Sahitya Akademi Award' winner .
