Locarno 2005 did India proud . In 2001 , the surprise of the festival was the screening of 'Lagaan' in its Piazza and winning the Priz du Public award . Five years on . 'Lagaan' is amongst the highest box-office grossers in Switzerland . It is still running and has made Aamir Khan a known star there .

This year , Locarno was inaugurated at the Piazza with 'The Rising - Ballad of Mangal Pandey' which was enthusiastically received in the presence of Aamir Khan , Rani Mukerji , Ketan Mehta and Bobby Bedi .

The competetion section , which had 18 films , featured Rituparno Ghosh's latest Bengali film , 'Antarmahal' . Present for the film was the director , his actress Rupa Ganguly and producer Jaya Bachchan , accompanied by the CEO of AB Corp , wing commander Ramesh . Finally , on the jury was director , actress and writer , Aparna Sen .
