A television journalist from Germany, Gitanjali Amin, daughter of an Indian father and a German mother (born and brought up in Germany), was in Bombay recently to cover some Bollywood functions for a television channel.

As per Gitanjali, the German craze for Bollywood began with screenings of ‘Lagaan’. After watching the Aamir Khan starrer, the Germans couldn’t have enough of Hindi films. They, quite simply, loved them.

Now, as is well known, the Indian flavour of Germany is Shah Rukh Khan. "If you did a spot poll on the streets of Germany about the best known film stars in the country, Shah Rukh would figure on top of that list," says Gitanjali. And, that is straight from the mare’s mouth!
