Jharkhand CM Says Koena Is Not The Brand Ambassador

The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Madhu Koda, has taken an about turn, after Bollywood actress Koena Mitra endorsed Jharkhand at the Pravasi Bharatiya meet in Delhi on Wednesday, asking NRIs to invest in the state, given its rich mineral resources.

While media reports quoting Koda said Koena was preferred over Jamshedpur-born starlet Tanushree Dutta or Ranchi-based cricket icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni for promoting Jharkhand for investments because of her higher glamour quotient, the CM on Friday said Koena's endorsement had been misinterpreted and that he had been misquoted. He added at no point did he say that the actress had been appointed by him as the brand ambassador of Jharkhand.

The CM's denial is being attributed to the fact that the local media blasted him for throwing away the tax-payers money to appoint an actress, who did not even hail from Jharkhand, while ignoring big names like cricketer Dhoni, and top actresses like Lara Dutta and even Priyanka Chopra, if glamour was all that was needed to attract investments to the state.

'Even tribal intellectuals could have been taken into account', the capital Ranchi based local media says.
