 It seems like Abhay Deol enjoyed being a 'Devdas' in 'Dev D', more so because it was a version that was absolutely contemporary and chic. Plus there was Anurag Kashyap as its director and the two have been good friends since long. "Anurag would just let Abhay be! There was no that typical actor director behaviour where the director calls the shots. Anurag would not say anything to Abhay even if he was fiddling with something or playing with a toy. While Abhay likes Anurag's spontaneity which helped me a lot as an actor," said a friend of Abhay's.
