Mumbai, Mar 1 (PTI) In a first for the Indian television, Bollywood's four renowned movie makers, Madhur Bhandarkar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vikram Bhatt and Anurag Kashyap, are presenting short films especially made for the small screen viewers.

"This format, known as 'mini-series' is popular in the West and has never been tried on the Indian television before. The treatment of these stories has been in the form of short films, which would be finished in 12 weeks," Sanjay Upadhyay, Creative Head (Fiction), Sony Entertainment Television (SET) says.

Beginning March 2, 'Specials @ 10' would be a 12-week series from Monday to Thursday from 10 pm on Sony TV.

While three of the directors Bhandarkar, Kashyap and Bhatt - are involved in three separate 12-part stories, Manjrekar is involved with a series of twelve different stories.

"In the heart of all the stories, lies the pain of women. But they are more close to the real Indian women and breaks all taboos," he says, while adding that, "the stories cannot be compared in any way to the regular 'saas-bahu' stuff.

Upadhyay says, "We experiment regularly with television content, in a bid to break the clutter and bring in new-age content for our viewers."
