London, Mar 11 (PTI) For the first time, a major Marathi film will be shot in Britain this summer with Mahesh Manjrekar directing the unnamed film, which is being financed by a couple of Indian origin here. Mucht of the shooting will take place in Bolton, northwest England, which has a sizeable Indian-origin population whose mother tongue is Marathi. The 1.5 million pounds film will be co-produced and co-financed by Subhash and Geeta Kotecha, who run Spice Valley restaurants in Bolton and Horwich.
"I will be scouting locations in Bolton soon with a view to shooting the film in the summer, when the light is better and the days are longer". Kotecha told the local media: "Along with my wife, we will be financing the film along with our two friends and I will be doing a lot of the logistical side for the film crew when they are here. "We wanted to bring a Bollywood film to Bolton and, although part of the film will be shot in India, many scenes will be shot in and around Bolton, the Lake District and London. "Mahesh is a well-respected actor and director and I have seen all his films over the years. I know many people will go to see him on the strength of his past career."
