Los Angeles, Mar 28 (PTI) Singer John Mayer who reportedly got dumped by "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston because of his obsession with the micro blogging website 'Twitter' has called it "silly and dumb". "It's inherently silly and it's inherently dumb. If you really think that Twitter is the pathway to spiritual enlightenment, well...It's one step away from sending out pictures of your own poop," said the Grammy winning singer.

Mayer was speaking to E!Online when he criticised the networking site that has become a rage with celebrities including Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Madonna.

"I don't have a devotion to Twitter. I didn't sell out to Twitter. You do Twitter until everybody gets off of Twitter and it's something else you go and try out," said the 31-year-old.

The singer was in news recently after breaking up with the 40-year-old "Marley and Me" star Aniston.

The couple had broken up earlier last year and at that point Mayer had been open about the split and addressed the press soon after, but this time around the singer avoided any questions about his personal life.
