Friday 25th March 2011, London: Setting a whole new precedent, today saw the Media Conference for the forthcoming cinematic release ‘Thank You’, a romantic comedy which sheds a light on the misdemeanours in marriage, releasing worldwide in cinemas on 8th April 2011. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar entertained the attending media with an exclusive opportunity to discuss marriage, relationships and philandering partners, in his role as extramarital counsellor, ‘Kishan’. Hosted by ITV 1 Daybreak presenter, Tasmin Lucia Khan, the unique and refreshing format of the event comprised superstar Akshay opening the floor to the media, who asked for advice and tips on everything from how to check whether your partner’s a love rat to maintaining the magic in a marriage. Tasmin then welcomed on stage Sunny and Shay Grewal – young, married couple from Channel 4’s The Family – and a pair of singletons, to continue the debate regarding male and female fidelity in relationships.
Produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Hari Om Entertainment Company, ‘Thank You’ is a film that lifts the lid on extramarital affairs. Filmed in Canada, maestro of comedy Akshay Kumar is at the helm of a powerhouse of screen talent that includes fellow stars Sonam Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Irrfan Khan, Suneil Shetty, Celina Jaitley and Rimi Sen in a battle of the sexes which will transform matrimony to acrimony. After the staggering Box Office success of ‘Singh is Kinng’ and the earlier ‘Welcome’, the superstar Akshay Kumar teams up once more with much-loved comedy director Anees Bazmee for another sure-fire hit which will have audiences in stitches well after the end credits roll. Audiences will also be indulged by a hypnotic item number delivered by the showgirl of Indian cinema, Mallika Sherawat, in the infectiously catchy ‘Razia’ – part of a memorable collection of songs that comprise musical maverick Pritam’s chart-topping soundtrack.
‘Thank You’ is an honest film about dishonesty which will be loved by and identifiable to audiences, continuing with the signature style we have come to expect from the winning combination of Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee. Witness the magic and mischief of marriage when ‘Thank You’ releases in cinemas across UK and worldwide on 8th April 2011 by UTV Motion Pictures.
