Sania-Shoaib Marriage : Indian Tenice Star Wants Uncle Talat Aziz To Sing!
- Planet Bollywood Special Correspondant           Let us know what you think about this story

Handsome singer Talat Aziz and wife Bina have been invited by his niece, Sania Mirza to Hyderabad for the nikaah.

Few know that Mumbai’s very own tall, goodlooking singer, Talat Aziz is related to the bride who’s currently making headlines, Sania Mirza.

The tennis champ is Talat Aziz’s niece. In fact, when Talat first came to Mumbai in 1976 to make his career, he stayed here in Sania’s grandmother, Raeesa Mirza’s house in Colaba. Her husband Zafar was the Chief Engineer with Central Railways.

Talat was in Dubai last week for a programme to raise funds for his guru and ailing Pak maestro, Mehdi Hassan when the Sania-Shoaib Malik marriage news story broke out in India.

Back in Mumbai, he got a call from Imran (Sania’s dad) inviting him and wife Bina to Hyderabad (family gatherings on April 8 and 9). Sania also came on the line and asked “Talat Uncle” to please sing at her mehndi. The singer is believed to have accepted the invitation as it’s all in the family. Of course, the dates have all gone for a toss but Talat wants to be there for the nikkah, whenever it is.

The dapper Talat Aziz was surprised how media got the inside news but confirmed that he was indeed related to Sania Mirza and that he and Bina would attend the family functions, Insha Allah.

Says Talat, “ Sania is my niece, her father Imran is my cousin. Sania’s paternal grandmother was Mrs Raeesa Mirza married to Mr Zafar Mirza who was a Chief Engineer with Central Railways.

Raeesa Khala was my aunt and when I came to Mumbai for the first time in 1976 to try and make a career in music, I stayed at their house in Colaba. Raeesa Khala used to take me around and introduce me to her friends and through them I met Jaidevji the music director, and a host of other people.

Then one day I met a lady called Leila Apa, Khala’s relative from Canada, who invited me to come to Canada for concerts and I went in 1977. Life took a different turn. I came back and moved to Mumbai permanently in 1978.

Sania’s dad, Imran is close to me and I feel sad that they have to go through this nonsense (over Shoaib Malik’s ‘first marriage’). I pray that all goes well for Sania and her family.I have not disclosed this ever to anybody since it’s a private matter and I’ve talked to you only because you asked me about it.”
