One of the hugest honors for a star to receive; Vidya Balan selected as a jury member at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, joining the likes of Oscar-winning actor Nicole Kidman, director Ang Lee, Japanese director Naomi Kawase, British scriptwriter-director-producer Lynne Ramsay, French actor-director Daniel Auteuil, Romanian scriptwriter-director-producer Cristian Mungiu and Austrian actor Christopher Waltz as part of the nine-member jury. Bollywood actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is also present at the most celebrated festival in the world is all praise for Vidya Balan ,who in his opinion is a rare actress to come across in this generation.
Says Nawaz, "I'm very excited about Vidya being at Cannes. This is the most prestigious festival and it's a big opportunity for her. It's a big honour for her and us. To be called there depends on the work you do and Vidya has the sensibilities and abilities as an actress. It's a big deal for anyone". he added that , "Vidya has made her own identity and there are few like her. The way actresses are used in a film, it's like they are just there and do nothing much in the film".
