His remarks came amid speculation by media that the film, which was released yesterday, was based on the life of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.
With the release of 'Sarkar Raj', Ramu, as the filmmaker is popularly known, has immersed himself in the pre-release promotion of his upcoming movies - 'Contract' and 'Phoonk', which are due to hit theatres in July and August respectively with both featuring newcomers. Asked about his experience of working with topline stars to newcomers, he said it is the creative urge that drives him to make films rather than the starcast. "Bigger stars carry a baggage of expectation. While with new faces, the director can play around with the characters. We can make the film look believable. I cast actors as per the demands of the script," he added. About "Contract", Ramu said when he started the film, his friends wondered why he was making yet another movie on underworld. "Terrorists are motivated by ideologies and gangsters act as local henchmen to facilitate the designs of the terrorists. This aspect was a new point which was not tackled by me in my earlier films," he added.
