Mumbai, June 10 (PTI) Veteran actor Dilip Prabhavalkar, who won the national award for best supporting actor for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in "Lage Raho Munnabhai", says the role that helped revive Gandhian philosophy among youths has been his toughest till date. "I have won several awards in the past. But this one is precious as I am getting it for a performance which has been the toughest so far. My role made Gandhi lovable and acceptable to the youth," Prabhavalkar told PTI here today. He said the credit goes to Rajkumar Hirani for creating and conceiving Bapu in such a manner that the present-day world can identify with.
Madhur Bhandarkar, who bagged the national award for best direction for "Traffic Signal", described recognition as announcement as a "great moment". "It is because of the jury, critics and audiences who have encouraged my kind of cinema that I am being able to continue making movies," he said, adding his next film "Fashion", starring Priyanka Chopra, will release in November.
