New Delhi, Jun 10 (PTI) After successfully directing superhit comedy film 'Mithya', actor-director Rajat Kapoor is back as an actor in debutant director Arindam Nandy's 'Via Darjeeling.' Kapoor plays the role of a journalist in the psychological thriller starring Kay Kay Menon, Sonali Kulkarni, Vinay Pathak and Parvin Dabas. His last film was a rib-tickling comedy 'Bheja Fry.'
'Via Darjeeling' is the story of Ankur (KK Menon) and Rimli (Sonali Kulkarni), a newly married couple on their honeymoon in Darjeeling. On the eve of their return to Kolkata, the husband Ankur disappears and police inspector incharge Robin Bose is unable to trace him. Two years later, Inspector Bose relates the case to a few friends who are intrigued by the story and offer their own interpretations of what would have happened to Ankur. Inspired by legendary Japanese filmmaker, Akiro Kurusova's film 'Rashomon,' the film's narrative goes through various twists opening itself up to new meanings. "The film has a very interesting theme, one which leads people to deliver their own interpretations about the story. It tries to show that even truth has many versions and it is not something absolute," he says.
