Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has paid tribute to yesteryear's Bollywood filmmaker Yash Johar on his sixth death anniversary, calling him the "finest gentleman in the film industry."

"Today is the death anniversary of Mr Yash Johar, producer and founder of Dharma productions, father of Karan Johar and one of the finest 'gentlemen' in the film industry," wrote Bachchan on his blog yesterday.

Johar, who has produced films like 'Dostana' and 'Gumraah', died on June 26, 2004 at the age of 74. After his death, his son Karan took over the reigns of his production house.

"The first film that he produced under his banner, or the film that he launched his banner with was 'Dostana' with Zeenat Aman, Shatrughan Sinha and yours truly, directed by Raj Khosla. His next with me was 'Agneepath'," wrote Bachchan.

"A dear friend of the family and the most dependable human ever."
