New Delhi, July 6 (PTI) Talk of Roop Kumar Rathod and music with a classical bend normally comes to mind. But in "Dhoom Dadakka", a film full of fun and youthful characters, the singer-composer tries his hand at bhangra-pop and fast tracks. Director Shashi Ranjan's debut venture, "Dhoom Dadakka" has only three songs, two of which have remixed versions. The album starts with the title track "Dhoom dadakka" sung by Daler Mehndi and Jaspinder Narula. In this bhangra number with techno beats, Daler is more heard-able. Jaspinder is somewhat subdued in the song and does not get the scope to make full use her lively voice. Parveen Kumar Ashk is the lyricist.
Sunidhi uses the seductive elements of her voice nicely in the song by Shaqeel Azmi. "Ara ra ra ra ghar aaye chhailwa" is a Holi number sung by Udit Narayan, Rathod and Kalpana. Written by Azmi, actors Anupam Kher, Satish Shah and Gulshan Grover lend their voice to the song by chipping in with a line or two. Dj Sandy and Dj Prince remix "Dhoom dadakka" and "Hari Om" with more techno beats and some rap lines. Rathod does not get an opportunity to showcase what he is best at ghazals and slow numbers. The man who sang "Zindagi maut na ban jaye" ("Sarfarosh"), "Aankhen teri" ("Anwar") and "Tere liye" ("Veer Zaara") to name a few fails to impress with the limited resources he get to handle in the film. The music is far from being something extraordinary. (About the album Name: "Dhoom Dadakka"; Music: Roop Kumar Rathod; Lyrics: Shaqeel Azmi and Parveen Kumar Ashk; Label: Eros International; Price: Rs 149).
