Mumbai, July 8 (PTI) Bollywood debutant Prachi Desai who has been paired opposite filmmaker Farhan Akhtar in upcoming film 'Rock On!!' releasing next month says that her transition from television to big screen has been a pleasant and positive experience. "My debut in films has not been tough mainly because I have a simple role as Farhan's wife who is instrumental in bringing the rockband back to centrestage," Prachi told PTI after the music launch of the film which saw Farhan in a new avatar as a singer.

Prachi, a protege of television soap queen Ekta Kapoor, quit the daily soap 'Kasamh se' to make it big in Bollywood.

Interestingly, 'Rock On!!' is directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Ekta's cousin.

Prachi agreed that dance reality show 'Jhalak Dhikla Ja' helped her to make an identity of her own. "Due to the daily soap, I was known as Bani to the world. It was a good break to be myself in the dance show," she added.

Prachi said though she has not displayed her dancing skill in the film, she has sung one song.

She said she was aware that cinema was a male domain while in television, female characters are given prominence.

"I am looking forward to do some good work and enjoy myself," the 18-year-old said.

Prachi, a student of first year in senior college, said she could not appear for her exams as she was shooting for the film.

"I would like to complete my graduation alongside films," she added.

She said she had shifted residence from Pune to Mumbai and was not averse to continue doing television.

"But, I will not be able to do daily soaps. But, other avenues definitely were welcome," she added.

Prachi is currently shooting for Rumi Jaffrey's 'Life Partner' opposite Tushar Kapoor.
