The Delhi High Court allowed Bollywood actor-producer Anil Kapoor to release his new Hindi film 'Short Kut- The Con Is On' after he agreed to pay Rs.35 lakh to another film producer for use of the title.

The producer, B.S. Bhuller, had accused Mr. Kapoor of stealing the title registered in the name of his company in 2005. The film is scheduled for release this Friday.

The Court on Wednesday had stayed the film’s preview till Thursday on a petition by Mr. Bhuller accusing Mr. Kapoor of violating the Copyright Act. Mr. Bhuller said he had registered the title 'Short Kut' with the Films Association in September 2005 and Anil Kapoor’s film production company had copied it in an “illegal and unauthorised” manner.

He claimed that he had shown the script of his proposed film with the 'Short Kut' title to Anil Kapoor offering him an important role in it but Anil had turned down his offer; later, he submitted, he came to know that Anil Kapoor was in fact making a film with the same title.
