The versatile actor has worked on everything, right from his partially bald and bespectacled look, to his voice, accent and body language that amalgamate into a nuanced portrayal of a private detective. Lauded for an impeccable job, here is what the critics have to say about the 43-year-old.

Meena Iyer says, "It would suffice to say that when the avenging mother is joined by an inconsequential-looking private detective, DK (Nawazuddin), the screen ride becomes edgier and more exciting. Nawazuddin, with his quirks and one-liners, turns in a class act."

Kunal Guha says, "If anyone but Nawazuddin Siddiqui was cast to play DK, it would come across as an imitation of a funny voice. But Nawaz takes that funny voice and makes it his own and it seems to belong."
