New Delhi, July 13 (PTI) For eminent filmmaker Mrinal Sen, who was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 10th edition of the Osian's Cinefest Film Festival 2008 here, awards represent a challenge to do something more everytime. Pioneer of 'new wave cinema' in India with his 1969 Hindi film 'Bhuvan Shome', Sen is one of the most accomplished directors in Bengal with Satyajit Ray and Ritiwik Ghatak. He has made over 30 films besides scripting and producing several films in 50 years of his career.
After accepting the award Sen said, "I feel very happy but I don't know whether I deserve this award or should I do some more to satisfy the people who have given me the award. "I have a feeling that perhaps I could do something more than this. Nothing is the last word in aesthetics. It can grow." The director's desire to experiment and revise has not changed over the years and that's what keeps him going. Sen said, "I wish I were to make many more films but as Chaplin had said I go when I go." "But Before that ideas pop into my head and I do not know where it all will end," he said.
