India's leading trade journal has some interesting news about the multplex and producer-distributor agreement. As everyone in the trade knows, the matter was resolved in June, when the national multiplex chains agreed to increase the share of producers/distributors in the box-office collections.

It was decided then that producers/distributors of films collecting a nett of over Rs. 17.5 crore from the six national multiplex chains during their entire run would be entitled to an additional 2.5 percent share in the nett collections in the first and second weeks from the six multiplex chains.

'New York' became the first such film to be entitled to 52.5 percent in week 1 instead of 50 percent and 45 percent in week 2 instead of 42.5 percent as its nett collections from the multiplex chains have already crossed Rs. 17.5 crore.

'Kambakkht Ishq' is the second film to avail of the advantage as its nett collections have also surpassed the threshold figure.
