Bangalore, July 31 (PTI) Tamil superstar Rajnikanth today expressed regret over a remark he made on the Hogenakkal issue as pro-Kannada groups claimed they will not allow the release of the actor's new film "Kuchelan" unless he apologised. In a statement to television channels in Hyderabad, he said his remark "kick them" was targeted at lumpen elements and stressed he was not at all referring to Kannadigas and pro-Kannada groups fighting for the cause of the language. "It was a mistake. I have learnt a big lesson. What's important is that the mistake is not repeated. I will be careful while speaking in future and see that I don't hurt anybody," he said.
Rajnikanth said he "bows" his head before good people but insisted that he would not apologise to "goondas". He also gave a clean chit to a few people, including Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Chief Shivarame Gowda, saying they are fighting for the cause of Kannada and he (Rajnikanth) was with them.
