Bangalore, Aug 1 (PTI) Tamil superstar Rajnikanth's new film "Kuchelan" hit cinemas across Karnataka today as fans, jubilant over withdrawal of threats to its release by pro-Kannada activists, celebrated the occasion by pouring milk on their idol's cut-outs and posters and performing 'aarti'. Fans, carrying flags, cut-outs and photographs of the actor as well as the tricolour, rode through the streets of the city prior to the first show of the film as police made elaborate security arrangements. Bursting crackers and shouting slogans, the fans sang and danced and adorned their star's posters with huge garlands of fresh roses.
Police had made elaborate security arrangements for the occasion. Rajnikanth told Kannada channels in Hyderabad yesterday that his comment 'kick them' made during the Hogenakkal row was targeted at lumpen elements and stressed he was not at all referring to Kannadigas and pro-Kannada groups fighting for the cause of the language. "It was a mistake. I have learnt a big lesson. What's important is that the mistake is not repeated. I will be careful while speaking in future and see that I don't hurt anybody," he said.
