Bhopal, Aug 19 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh police will probe links Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi used to bag a role in the reality show 'Bigg Boss' that is dogged by controversy. Bedi was extradited along with gangster Abu Salem from Portugal in 2005 and lodged as an undertrial in Central Jail here in connection with a fake passport case.

Though the Salem's alleged companion was acquitted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate's (CJM) court here and later by the Sessions Court, the prosecution has appealed against her acquittal in the High Court.

After Monica's entry into Bigg Boss, the Indian version of British reality TV show 'Big Brother', police would probe how she got the offer, police sources said today.

The sources alleged that Monica was given roles in Hindi films in the past because of underworld pressure.

Actor Shilpa Shetty-hosted Bigg Boss, which has 14 participants, is being aired on newly-launched TV channel Colors from August 17.

The show's second edition has generated controversy. Last week actor Aamir Khan's brother Faisal Khan filed a case against the organisers for dropping him from the show without assigning any reason.

Yesterday, RPI President and Lok Sabha MP Ramdas Athawale alleged he was dropped from the show because he was a Dalit.
