The Indian film fraternity which had earlier made a passionate appeal to the people to exercise restraint and maintain calm, gave the ruling a thumbs up.

Oscar nominated director of films like 'Bandit Queen' and 'Elizabeth', Shekhar Kapur gave his opinion on Twitter writing, "Mature handling by courts."

Other A-listers like Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta too weighed in on Twitter.

"Thank you to the people of India for showing maturity and unity today and bravo to the media and the govt for handling the delicate situation wonderfully," tweeted actress Preity Zinta.

Hrithik kept his response short by tweeting,"Keep the peace people," and then re-tweeted Priyanka Chopra's message.
