The Bombay High Court today stayed the release of 'Knock Out', the film starring Sanjay Dutt, Irrfan Khan and Kangana Ranaut, over allegations of copyright violation.

US-based studio Twentieth Century Fox had moved the High Court seeking a stay, alleging that the Hindi film, slated to release tomorrow, was a scene-to-scene copy of the 2003 hit, 'Phone Booth', which starred Colin Farell and Forest Whitaker.

Justice Roshan Dalvi watched both the films yesterday before passing the stay order.

Both the films revolved around hostage situation where the victim is trapped inside a phone booth.

The matter will come up for final hearing in due course, but Sohail Maklai Entertainment Private Limited (SMEPL), producers of 'Knock Out', are expected to file an appeal before division bench tomorrow or next week, lawyers said.
