The diwali week is one of the most sought after and auspicious occasion for the Hindi film industry to release multiple projects. And this year has once again highlighted the potential of the market during the festive period, irrespective of the final outcome of the three film that released during the period.

Checking out the breakdown of the three diwali releases : Shree Ashtavinayak’s ‘Blue’ has netted 32 crores followed by Devgn Films’ ‘All The Best’ with 23 crores (due to a remarkable pick up from the 3rd day onwards), while ‘Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ has netted 8 crores. The older releases like Karan Johar’s ‘Wake Up Sid’, Boney Kapoor’s ‘Wanted’ etc pooled in another couple of crores between them. Roughly the industry jointly netted nearly 65 crores in seven days. Unbelievable, but true!

While the final outcome of ‘Blue’ and ‘All The Best’ depend on the second week, unfortunately ‘Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ has been declared a trade disaster, but it has been a memorable week for the exhibition sector and the and theater owners.
