Singer-songwriter and filmmaker Amanda Sodhi's new single "Behind My Sunglasses," which briefly aired on Pepsi MTV Indies, has just released on Desi Music Entertainment's (DME) YouTube channel and is all set to air on Channel V India.

"Behind My Sunglasses" is the first song Amanda Sodhi has released after going the solo route. She earlier fronted an acoustic duo, The Acoustic Girls, and a pop-rock band TCAD. After singing pop-rock and acoustic-pop in her previous projects, interestingly, this time around she is out with an R&B number, which grows on you with each listen.

"Behind My Sunglasses" is a song that is really close to my heart and I hope people can connect to the lyrics. 'Sunglasses' is a metaphor for the mask each one of us wears to hide our often painful reality from the world," said Amanda Sodhi. "Often people have no idea what is really going on in one's life, all they see is a smiling face - that's the essence of what the song is about. I'm extremely happy it is finally out, and it feels surreal the video is airing on Channel V India - what a wonderful way to begin November! A lot of hard work went into both the audio AND the video, whether it be Prateek Gandhi's music production, K.J. Singh's mixing or the DME team's video production work."

"I really liked the feel of the song," said National Award and Filmfare Award winning sound engineer KJ Singh, who is also the label head of Asli Music. "When mixing it, I tried to keep that vibe going, with clean, simple programming by Prateek Gandhi. And, now it has a stylized video by DME to back the song. We, at Asli Music, are happy to release this on our label."

While the song was created in Mumbai, the video was shot in Chennai by DME. The music video has a nice stylized feel to it, with several moments which nicely capture the vibe of internal loneliness the song deals with.

"DME values working with young artists and is devoted to the advancement and promotion of independent Indian music and video content worldwide," said Kavita Baliga, Founder of DME.

"Behind My Sunglasses" airs on Channel V today (November 1st) at 2:44pm, 9:45pm and 11:20pm, and November 2nd onward will be rotated between 2-3pm and 9pm onwards. The music video can also be viewed on DME's official YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/fvq9rC2V95s

The song is available for download on OKListen at https://www.oklisten.com/albums/album/behind_my_sunglasses and will also be out on iTunes and several other platforms this week.

Born and brought up in Washington, DC, Amanda Sodhi has made Mumbai her home for the past four years. She is currently in post-production for a feature-length documentary about the independent music scene called Attention Please, which she co-directed with K.J. Singh, and is gearing up for the release of a Hindi single, "Main Khaali," slated for a release end of this year. Amanda earlier released "Jigsaw Puzzle" with her previous project, The Acoustic Girls - the song made it to the top charts of OKListen within a matter of weeks.
