Mumbai, Nov 17 (PTI) After banning the film 'Deshdrohi' based on north Indian migrants, Maharashtra government is mulling over a ban on a Marathi play that shows how Marathis are being affected by rising influx of migrants. "Though the play has been performed earlier, we have received complaints about it," Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said today. The Malvani play 'Bhaiyya Hat Pay Pasri' (Bhaiyya Spreads His Tentacles) is directed by late Marathi actor Machhindra Kambli. "The play would be reviewed taking into consideration the law and order situation in the state," Patil, who holds the Home portfolio, said.
Patil, along with the Home Department officials today watched a special screening of 'Deshdrohi' in south Mumbai but declined to comment on the movie. Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court today disposed off petition filed by producer of 'Deshdrohi' against the ban imposed by Home Department. The court did not lift the ban, but asked home secretary to give a hearing to producers and take decision afresh.
