The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) today objected to the advertisements of 'Guzaarish', to be released tomorrow, featuring actress Aishwarya Rai smoking a cigarette, displayed on the buses of Bombay Electric and Supply Transport (BEST) undertaking and demanded their removal.A delegation of MNS BEST employees union, led by its president Avinash Abhyankar and general secretary Sunil Jadhav, met the undertaking's general manager Om Prakash Gupta and submitted a momorandum in this regard, a party release said here.
They said on the one hand the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was putting boards against smoking everywhere, while on the other, they have allowed the advertising agencies to display the advertisements of Aishwarya smoking a cigarette on the buses, creating wrong impression in the minds of people. In the interest of society, such advertisements should be removed immediately, they demanded. Mr Gupta assured the delegation that necessary action would be taken. If the BEST failed to take action, the MNS BEST Employees Union will take action in their own style, they indicated.
