New Delhi, Nov 29 (PTI) Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt today came out in support of India TV, saying the channel has not crossed 'lakshmanrekha' by broadcasting a telephone conversation with terrorists on-screen when the army operation was on in Mumbai. "India TV has not crossed any 'Lakshamanrekha' by showing terrorist speaking their mind on TV. And it is not something because of which the country has suffered," said Bhatt. "If the terrorist has talked about anything, there is nothing wrong to take a different perspective. It was a exclusive coverage by the channel and it should be appreciated and not condemned," he added.
"Giving a platform to terrorists to express their feeling is not a crime. I think what India TV has done is a responsible journalism," said the critically-acclaimed director. A senior ministry official confirmed that the notice has been served to the channel and it has been given time till December 1 to reply to the notice. The ministry's contention was that by broadcasting the conversation, the channel had given a platform to terrorists to espouse their cause.
