 KAMINEY is the story about a pair of twins- Charlie and Guddu (both played by Shahid Kapoor) who can't stand the sight of each other. They are as different as chalk and cheese e.g. Charlie lisps while Guddu stammers. One fateful rainy night, their carefully separated lives cross paths. Charlie gets mixed up in a deadly get-rich quick scheme, while Guddu realises that the love of his life, Sweety, (played by Priyanka Chopra), has unwittingly put a price on his head. It's a dark comic ride here onwards as the brothers are sucked into a world of drugs, guns and money. Their lives collide head on with gangsters, rebel soldiers, rogue politicians, crooked cops. In the middle of this crazy adventure, the brothers have to run to protect themselves, their dreams and their love....And above all, they realise that all they have is each other.
Producer Ronnie Screwvala's Notes We started our journey with Vishal Bhardwaj with the critically acclaimed "Blue Umbrella". Since then we were looking for what next with him. Vishal, the inexaustible writer that he is; writes scripts by the dozens and before you know it he has put one aside and moved onto another. Kaminey happened in the quickest time possible; from his writing it to UTV giving its go ahead for it to being cast and then produced. Kaminey offers to India, a new and unique style of story telling. With actors par excellence and the versatile magician Vishal Bhardwaj (who not only writes but composes and sings as well) breathing life into this fabulous 'caper thriller'; we are hoping that this film will set a new trend in cinema.
The Music The soundtrack was released on the 6th July 2009 and is a super hit particularly the chartbusting "Dhan Te Nan". As for most of his films, Vishal composes the music himself and proves yet again, why he is regarded as one of the finest all round talents in Hindi Cinema today. If you wanted further proof, listen out for his vocals in the title track.
