Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan have teamed in the past for several home productions and delivered hit movies with chartbuster music. They have teamed again in "Koyla" starring Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit.
The first track on side A is a beautiful number sung by Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik and chorus. "Dekha tujhe to ho gayee diwani, paa-loon tujhe to marna jaoon kahin" has good tune and wordings. Both have sung the song well, especially, Alka even when some of her lines don't rhyme (beginning lines as above and the first paragraph lines ending with "mil gaya" and "lagne laga"). The song is bound to be a hit.
The second song is a duet "Tanhai tanhai tanhai, dono ko paas le aayee" sung nicely by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. It has a hummable tune
The third song "Sanso ki mala pe simaroon main pee ka naam, prem ke path par chalte chalte ho gayee main badnaam" sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy is a slow song with rather difficult wording.
B-side starts with a naughty number "Bhang ke nashe mein ek ho gaye hum, bum chik bam bhole bam bam bam" sung by Alka Yagnik and chorus. The chorus indicates the song is picturised on children, but what are the children doing with "bhang ka nasha"? The song has good rhythm and is fun to sing-along (at least the beginning).
The second track is another beautifully written and composed song, "Badan juda hote hain, dil to juda nahin hote, kaise juda karenge, log khuda nahin hote; Pyar ke aage parbat kya hai, ambar bhi jhukta hai, pyar nahin rukta hai". It is sung by Kumar Sanu, Preeti Singh and chorus. With Preeti Singh's voice there is an echoing effect which makes the song sound very nice and haunting.
The last number is "Ghunghate mein chanda hai phir bhi hai faila charon aor ujala, hosh na kho de kahin josh mein dekhanewala" sung by Udit Narayan and chorus. Udit Narayan sings it in his "mast" style reminiscent of "DDLJ" and "Dastak"
In conclusion, Rajesh Roshan has come out with another good album after several recent hits (Papa Kahte Hain, Dastak, Kaun Sachcha Kaun Jhootha).
