While the entertainment industry is still reeling under the effects of the pandemic, creators and artists have found a new avenue to generate income. Non Fungible tokens or NFTs are the new rage among artists and buyers of exclusive, bespoke art pieces.
One such artist is India’s youngest NFT artist 13 year old – Laya Mathikshara. Laya dropped her first NFT on WazirX recently and its uniqueness is that it’s the first short film to be launched as a NFT on WazirX. She has launched an animated short film ‘Gratitude’ that she has created herself and the film is selected to be screened at the ‘16th International Kids and Youth Film Festival’ in partnership with UNESCO. Intrestingly, the NFT has already made its first sale on WazirX.
Commenting on the same, 13 year old Laya says “I am glad that I have got an opportunity to launch my NFT with WazirX. Gratitude is short film of mine which is a tribute to our Covid-19 warriors. The response I am getting so far has been very heartening and through WazirX i hope more people can watch it.”
Incidentally, Laya was able to sell the NFT rights of her film on day 1 of the release for a neat USD 350.00. A success story for a young budding artist.
Apart from Laya, WazirX NFT Marketplace has some of the country’s most talented artists associated with them. Names like Lydian Nadhaswaram (music composer & world’s best child pianist), Drummer Sambit Chatterjee, are in the process of creating their unique NFTs and will be dropping them on WazirX’s marketplace soon.
With NFTs quickly gaining grounds and platforms like WazirX providing artists and buyers a smooth trading experience, its safe to say virtual & digital art and its ever growing fan base are both here to stay.
