“Aye zindagi gale laga le, hum ne bhi tere har ek gham ko gale lagaya hai na….” – through these lines Gulzar stated how we expect life to embrace and console us as we have, too, made out peace with all the pain it inflicts upon us. The title of ‘Aye Zindagi’, a new Hindi feature-length film, has been derived from the aforementioned song from ‘Sadma’ (1983). However, one can also use these lines to describe the theme of this film which features Revathy, Satyajeet Dubey, Mrinmayee Godbole in principal roles.

As the trailer opens, we are introduced to Revathy Rajan (Revathy), a grief counsellor. Soon enough, we get a glimpse into the life of another character named Vinayak (Satyajeet Dubey), a 26-year-old man whose life turns upside down when he discovers he is suffering from a life-threatening disease. A transplant may save Vinayak’s life but there is no guarantee. Vinayak starts losing everything he has earned in his life but just when he thinks everything is over, hope knocks at his doorstep.

The two-minute and twelve-second trailer gives you a very good idea of what you should expect from the film. While it introduces you to the premise of the film, it doesn’t give away the entire plot. You feel for Vinayak as he cries and says, “Mujhe jeena hai, Kartik…”. As one can see in the trailer, the film explores the kind of relationship Vinayak shares with people around him.

Though the film is a couple of weeks away, when you see the trailer, you realize there couldn’t have been a better choice than Revathy to play the empathetic Revathy Rajan. It would be also interesting to see Satyajeet, who delivered a memorable performance in the Prime Video series ‘Mumbai Diaries 26/11’, playing a sensitive character.

Produced and distributed by Platoon One Films, ‘Aye Zindagi’ releases in theatres on October 14.
